How to Protect Your Domain from Theft
Domain protection from theft
1️⃣ What is Domain Theft?
Domain theft is the unauthorized transfer of a domain to third parties, usually through account hacking or social engineering. Once stolen, a domain can be:
- Redirected to another website
- Used for spam or phishing campaigns
- Sold or blocked from the rightful owner
2️⃣ Ways to Protect Your Domain
🔐 Transfer Lock — Transfer Blocking
What it is: Prevents transferring the domain to another registrar without your permission.
How to enable in RX-NAME:
- Log in to your RX-NAME account.
- Go to Orders → Domain Names.
- Click on the desired domain.
- Enable Transfer Lock.
🧷 DNSSEC — DNS Record Protection
What it is: Protects DNS records from being altered (for example, so that the domain does not lead to a fake website).
How to enable:
If the domain is on your own name servers:
- In the domain management menu, click Activate DNSSEC.
- Go to the DS Records section.
- Click Add.
- Enter the keys generated by your name server and click Add.
If the domain is on our name servers:
1. Without enabling DNSSEC in the management menu, go to the DNS Administrator section.
2. Activate it.
3. After activation, simply enable DNSSEC.
🔑 Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
What it is: Adds an extra layer of security when logging into your account.
How to enable in RX-NAME:
- Log in to your account → go to Settings / Security.
- Enable 2FA (Google Authenticator) by clicking Link.
- Scan the QR code in the mobile app.
- Confirm the code.
