How to Verify an Organization When Ordering an OV/EV SSL Certificate

To issue an SSL certificate with Organization Validation (OV) or Extended Validation (EV), the Certification Authority (CA) must confirm the legitimacy of your organization.

1. Prepare Your Documents

Required documents for organization verification:

  • Official company registration certificate (for Ukraine: EDRPOU database)

  • Charter or extract from the state registry

  • Contact details of the company’s director and official address

For EV certificates, an Authorization Letter confirming the rights of the administrative contact may also be required.

2. Methods of Organization Verification

The CA may verify your organization using one or more of the following methods:

  1. Telephone Call Verification – a call to the official phone number listed for the organization

  2. Email Verification – confirmation via corporate email on the organization’s domain

  3. Government Business Registry – automated check in national or international registries (for Ukraine and other countries)

Telephone verification is mandatory for EV certificates.

3. Upload Your Documents

  1. After selecting the certificate, click “Proceed to Validation”

  2. Upload the required documents in the designated fields

  3. Confirm the administrative contact via phone or corporate email

The organization name in your documents must exactly match the name that will appear in the certificate.

4. Additional Tips

  • Using a corporate email speeds up verification

  • International companies can provide a DUNS number to speed up the process

  • Typical issuance times: OV – 1–3 business days, EV – 2–5 business days
